I was wondering how long it takes for crops to die in Farmville? I heard that they whither away after the amount of hours it took to grew. So like plants that took a day to grow would die in a day. If they took 4 hours they would die in 4 hours. Is this true?

On farmville for facebook, each crop you grow takes a certain amount of time before it is ready to harvest. I was wondering if there was a specified amount of time before the crops go to waste.
